This time I was in the media also without the Solatrike! I was mentioned at the end of the video that also tourists had interests in viewing the mercury transit. (Well short after they took the video the clouds covered the sun and we didn't see anything at all.) :-(

The Swiss David Brandenberger is travelling throughout Europe on a bike that is operated with solar energy panels. He decided to go to different countries of mankind. So he has chosen the ecological cycle.

But he knew that he will thereby have a lot of weight. So he needed additional support. That is the reason why David Brandenberger travels with a bike with solar energy.

The panels on wheels are connected with the bike. The whole thing is heavy. However, this does not prevent him to travel throughout Europe and the Balkans. How much energy he can win, determined its course.

The dashing Swiss traveller is optician by profession. He went the last 4 months through Europe and the Balkans. After he made a test journey in which he tested the strength and stability of the bike.

He is in Greece the last 4 days. Yesterday he was in Komotini and in Alexandroupoli before. The "Chronos" met him near the police station of Komotini, where he was being watched with interest by several people. The passing of the Trike made at passersby for great interest to look at the exotic vehicle with the stranger.

An exotic cyclist from Switzerland is touring around Europe while testing his solar vehicle

A futuristic tricycle with its exotic rider attracted the attention of some people at the grocery market in Haskovo yesterday afternoon. The modernist vehicle with solar panels stopped briefly at the parking lot in front of the "Rodopi" hotel, but because of its out-of-standard dimensions was quickly moved to the backyard of the hotel. The owner of the vehicle - David Brandenberger, willingly told about his innovative project. Some curious citizens came closely to the parked tricycle to see it from near distance. David Brandenberger passed with his tricycle through Haskovo en route to Greece.

''This is my second Solatrike project and it is completely different from the first version. It represents a recumbent Pedelec-tricycle with solar panels mounted on the trailer. The trailer is used as a storage compartment as well. The speed achieved is 25 km/h, but with all the innovations we implemented we think the speed could be increased to 40 km/h'', said Brandenberger. (On this point they misunderstood something. d-t-b)

''The Solatrike II started on July 6 this year (2015) and it's still on the road'', the owner said. ''I began my journey from the Czech Republic, where the tricycle was built, cruised through Poland, Slovakia and other European countries, and now I'm on my way to Greece. This is my first time in Bulgaria'', said David Brandenberger.

''The idea is that the vehicle should serve well during a long journey, and be economical. (There should be written "ecological". d-t-b)

The important thing is not only to talk about alternative energy sources, but also to do something particular in order to contribute to the battle with the pollution'', commented the innovator.

Details on the unusual vehicle can be read on his website - www.d-t-b.ch. From there we understand that his first Solatrike project had failed as the construction of the tricycle was too heavy. The axis had been pierced twice within a short period of time and the project was stopped after 500 km.

David Brandenberger is from Switzerland, but his work makes him a citizen of Europe. He defines himself as multitalented and deals with music, photography and painting.

A year has passed, summer has come and we have a real bicycle boom in Łódź! During this holiday I got as many as nine messages from people who would like to come to us, but the real hit was the one from David from Switzerland.

"Could it be possible to stay overnight with you and my solar-trike for two days in Łódź?"

I look at the website of his project and everything is clear. The guy is really riding a horizontal tricycle and pulling a giant solar panel behind him. The whole thing is 5.3 metres. The panel recharges the batteries, the batteries drive the motor, the motor helps to pedal. Everything is cool, but how do we fit it into our M2?! Finally, I managed to persuade David to part with his precious vehicle for a few days and park it at Mama Mazny's, and it has already fallen into our hands.

I felt right away that it would be worth it, because if a man does such a crazy thing, he must be a really interesting person. And he really was. And yes, he turned out to be not only an original cyclist-traveller, but also a photographer, artist and musician. He took all these passions with him on the road. In his bicycle panniers he had two huge professional SLR cameras, and an electric guitar and an amplifier under the solar panel. You will probably ask how much it all weighed. More than a hundred kilograms! The whole vehicle was built in the Czech Republic, but trips around Europe are just a warm-up. Now the solar-trike still has the final touches to make, then wintering in Greece and then going east. The esti-mated time for completion is 2024. Not a bad idea for life, is it?

When you're tired of corpo from morning to evening and the same dialogues in the kitchen every now and then about who made the exciting trip to Ikea and who bought himself a new curtain and curtains, what new fashionable shoes and shirts he has, how he tuned his car, then maybe setting up an account on one of the travel portals is just for you. They give you a chance to meet people who are really interes-ted in something, have passions, ambitious goals and ideas - only seemingly crazy. I love these people and how they infect with their ideas, telling about them for hours with such constant excitement in their voices, a flash in their eyes. They immediately feel that they have a lot of fun with what they do. They give a kick to action.

We got ourselves a kick out a few years ago when we accidentally ran into Erik from Scotland. With his four-year journey around the world, he inspired us to try something like that for ourselves. Incidentally, he also bumped into us later in Łódź. Our city has some-thing about it that attracts a certain type of people. Because some people will say: "Ugly, ugly here, dirty, not touristy, not interesting". Others will soak in the climate of Łódź, they will get lost in endless quarters of tenement houses or abandoned factories. And Erik and David stayed in our city longer than they planned at the beginning and it was not so much a coincidence. Erik got involved in Łódź's street-art and probably photographed every mural in the city. David was painting with light in Piotrkowska Street, or playing with artistic installations at our factory workers' bench. He even created a new picture in the Łódź art museum.

The Czech TV Station TV Barrandov showed at July 6th 2015 a bit of my trip, but only 5 seconds. The whole interview was cut off. But better than nothing and if I will get back, they will probably do a bigger interview. ☺
