"Portrait eines Königspinguins, Südgeorgien."

Signierte Fotografie 2002.

Foto inkl. Rahmen, 40.5 x 30.5cm

CHF 50.-

"Portrait of a King Penguin,

South Georgia."

Signed Photography 2002

Photo incl. frame, 40.5 x 30.5cm

CHF 50.-

This photo was taken during the voyage to South America and Antarctica in December 2002.

The Antarctic ship stopped on South Georgia near Salisbury Plain, where a Penguin Colony of over 10'000 animals is home. I had installed the 28-300 mm lens on the Nikon F100, as I lay in the Penguin guano and waited. After a few minutes, came this King Penguin to me and waddled out without shyness before me. As I lay down before the penguin, I meant no risk with this size and it approached within a short distance to me. The only thing I had to do is wait for the right moment and to shoot. So I turned on my back, to get the right perspective for this. Afterwards I was full of Penguin guano and stank accordingly, but for this photo, it was worth it.

"Korona und Protuberanzen"
"Korona und Protuberanzen"

"Korona und Protuberanzen, Zambia"

Fotografie 2001.

Foto inkl. Rahmen, 40.5 x 30.5cm

CHF 50.-

"Corona and prominences, Zambia"

 Photography 2001

Photo incl. frame, 40.5 x 30.5cm

CHF: 50.-

This photo was taken during the trip to Zambia to see the Eclipse of the Sun. The conditions were ideal: a blue cloudless sky all day. What a contrast to a year ago, when I travelled to southern Germany and instead of the "Black Sun" I saw only black heavy rain clouds. With less than four minutes, the duration of the Eclipse was a lot longer than it did the other time. I was able to capture different parts of the Solar Eclipse with some exposure changes. With short exposures, only the prominences were on the slide and the whole Corona can be seen with longer exposures. Because the Sun isn't exactly in the Centre of the optical beam, a weak reflection appeared slightly offset. I used this to take both phenomena at the same time on a photo and so you can see the Corona and the prominences.

The slide was then exposed analog on photographic paper.

"Matt 027Stellisee"

Fotografie 2011 Mai.

Foto inkl. Rahmen: 40 x 50 cm

CHF: 100.-

Photography 2011 may.

Photo incl. frame: 40 x 50 cm

CHF: 100.-

Winner's photo at the Photokina 2012 Epson fine art print

This photo was taken after a short cold night at the Stellisee before sunrise. The Matterhorn is already drenched from the Sun and some peaks in addition also. I converted the photo then in black and white and took out only the drenched set again with the color. To reinforce the effect of the panorama I cut the photo above and below a bit. A small fine frame completes perfectly the picture. That's all; I made no further interventions in the photo.

Rather of fun and curiosity, if Epson printers can really print the weak contrast, I sent the photo to the competition - and it just won. As the only one among the competitors, one of my photos won every day on the three days where I could submit one photo each day.

Thus, cold nights in the tent are worth!

Fotografie, 2010 September,

Photography, 2010 September,

Photo incl. frame: 40 x 50 cm

CHF: 100.-

Winner's photo at the Photokina 2012

Epson fine art print

"This is an atypical photo of me - I am not a great street photographer. This is a lucky shot. One day after the Photokina 2010 I roamed in rainy weather by Düsseldorf. It was not really good weather for photography and I thought to myself; in this weather you will not win even a flower pot (a german saying). But I should be wrong. At the newly designed waterfront walked past me this unknown woman with the orange umbrella. After a while, I randomly looked back and whipped out the camera - a direct hit in a split second in which I have appointed the composition, sharpness history, cut-out and the remaining parameters. Also a gift from God is that the umbrella was orange. He has put this chance together; I only shot the photo and then converted it into black and white - without the umbrella of course. Sure, I'm just the tool that correctly ruled his tool, the camera at the moment. If the woman had a black umbrella, the effect would not have succeeded and if I haven't been at that time in that place also, and, and, and...

Then I sent the photo for fun to the competition - and it just won. As the only one among the competitors, one of my pictures won every day on the three days where I could submit one photo each day.

So, I've won more than a flower pot in this rainy weather!"

Winner's photo at the Photokina 2012

Epson fine art print

"On a weekend in January, where I stayed in Heidenheim, Germany: I was standing early in the morning before the lantern and the views over the Valley. The morning mist covered Heidenheim and was illuminated by the morning sun. Fine frost covered the plants and started a cool winter day. Instinctively, I designed then the composition with the Lantern as an eye-catcher. The eye remains a bit on the fence before it then can continue walking through the bushes into the vastness of the Valley. The antenna on the opposite Hill stretches teasingly slightly offset to the lantern in the sky.

In this photo, I have edited nothing except the fine frame.

I imagined this photo as a fine art print and sent it in the contest - and won again. As the only one among the competitors, one of my photos won every day on the three days where I could submit one photo each day.

So, one of my lantern photos won this time."

„The description“

Artphoto: KF006

"The description"

The description of a work of art gives information about the artwork, especially if you can not see what it is there. This idea came to me of course in a Museum and I had implemented it in a museum. For this, Janek and Marzena were helping me to fulfill my idea. The Lady in the picture (here Marzena) look what the Viewer (Janek) wants to read  on the description. This was made in the Museum of modern art in Lodz, which is committed to the Dada art.
Aren't we all a bit Dada?

"Malerischer Garten"

 Ngaa mihi,

Nadia Gush

Kurator, Poutiaki Whakataki (Sozialgeschichte)"

"Picturesque Garden"

The photograph was selected by the Waikato Museum in Hamilton, NZ, to be included in a public lecture as an example of the picturesque.

"We did choose your image to include as an example of the picturesque in a public lecture.

I would like to invite you to the free public lecture I will be giving at Waikato Museum on 2nd November 2019 at 2 - 3pm. In the talk I will cover aspects of the history of the picturesque in the Waikato and I will also talk about the photographs which we received from people like yourself. If you are able to attend, there will be a brief opportunity for you and others to speak about your photographs at the end, if you wish to do so (this is completely optional).

 Ngaa mihi,

Nadia Gush
Curator, Poutiaki Whakataki (Social History)"

I decided spontaneously to take part in the partici-pation, I visited the museum on 17 October and the closing date was 18 October. I only had one day to find a picturesque garden in Hamilton, whose city I didn't know, to use the existing lighting situation as it was, to take a photo and send it in. I didn't have much time. I found the mighty tree and the pavilion behind it not far from the museum and decided to take full advantage of the tilt/shift lens. I shifted it up so the tree wouldn't fall and tilted it to the side so the focus would fall on the tree and the pavilion behind it. The overcast sky gave me a white sky and weak contrast. Instead of intensifying the contrast, I even decided to soften the contrast even more to give it a sepia-like impression and still be in black and white. The mighty branches of the tree are already in great contrast to the filigree construction of the white pavilion. I chose the cut-out so that the eye could be guided from the branches to the pavilion.

Unfortunately I could not attend the lecture because I had already travelled on.
